Stability was the initial argument; at the time I was bootstrapping
the amd64 port, the ACPI code wasn't so good yet.

I want to switch it to MPACPI for 3.0. The main concern is probably
that ACPI will easily overflow bootfloppies.. amd64 should perhaps
switch to using CD-ROM booting only, with "harddisk emulation" for
El Torito.
