Could you please point me to the patches?

Also, I talked to a friend who also possesses similar alpha machines
but operated them under Linux. He said that the SCSI controllers
caused problems in several cases. In this box here, there is a Qlogic
1020 and an Adaptec 29160. According to him, there were problems with
the Qlogic SCSI HBA (which is required for booting) under high I/O
loads, maybe also on the Adaptec, under older Linux versions. There
was a patch by a weird company that apparently went bankrupt, which
was about 2.5MB and fixed a lot of stuff in the Qlogic driver. This
patch apparently made the driver work.

Maybe this is a related problem? He reported that there were frequent
full halts of the system when the I/O load on the bus was a bit higher.

I attached my dmesg for people to be able to look into it.
