other than license differences i don't think there will be
much difference between x.org and xfree86:

as far as alpha support [NetBSD]is concerned, there needs to be a 
complete forward write of netbsd files in xc/programs...../os-suppot/bus
directory. here the netbsd pci library for alpha needs to called. -my 
2cents.
