Hello,

the last days my Miata was heavily compiling lots of stuff. NetBSD 2.0
including XFree86 and a bunch of packages, including KDE3 from pkgsrc-2004Q4.
Everything is built with -mcpu=21164a -mtune=21164a -mbwx -O2.

Could it be that these flags help a lot in stability for several products?
Okay, i didn't compare the same versions, my previous setup was 2.0RC4 with
pkgsrc-2004Q3, packages just compiled with -mcpu=21164a and OS from releng, not
home built.

In the previous setup, XMMS just hanged, and kopete and korganizer crashed
either directly after start or somewhen in regulat use of these apps.

With the current setup, those applications run seemingly rock stable, no
trouble yet. Is it a high chance, that using BWX or just optimizing the code
for this CPU can fulfill such wonders? Or is the chance higher, that these 3
apps have been fixed in their versions between 2004Q3 and 2004Q4?

I'm impressed. Really. I don't need any PeeCee any more to comfortably do all
those daily jobs now :)

If someone is interested... I got some space at freewebtown and i'm currently
uploading all the stuff there. As i'm limited to 1GB transfer per month,
someone with a better link could mirror this to make it public. On interest,
mail me. Not everything for everyone is built, just the packages i need, but
it's a good base to save some days compiling. Everything is optimized for
Miatas.

...Michael
