as noted in http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/alpha/multiafaq.html#netboot ,
firmware 3.8-2 is suspected to work for netbooting, but was once lost.
well i have not tried this for myself yet, but here appears to be a

i see that he posted this to the netbsd port-alpha mailinglist in 1998,
but since i didn't find it last year when i looked and the faq still
says 3.8-2 is MIA, i figure reposting the url may help some people out.

if anybody tries this, please post your experience.
