It worked for me about 6-8 months ago on an i386), but when I tried it a 
couple weeks ago (after putting the extra stuff necessary for the 
"in-progress" SCSI-over-firewire into the kernel config), it failed. I 
haven't had time yet to try it after removing the firewire disk stuff from 
the kernel, so I hadn't reported anything yet. Anyway, whatever problem 
you're seeing now on an alpha may or may not be the same problem you saw a 
year ago!
