Subject: Alpha DS10 Hanging on Generic 1.5.3 kernel

Greetings. I'm doing a new install of NetBSD 1.5.3 on to a Compaq DS10
"sarasvati". All but the X installation sets were installed (from
sysinst). The first boot of NetBSD as installed hangs.

Here's how i got this far:

1) I netbooted the DS10 (via BOOTP and TFTP from a NetBSD
1.5.3 SPARC "brahma") using this file:
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/alpha/netboot-1.5

2) Root was NFS mounted from the brahma. The 1.5.3 kernel loaded was this
file:

ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.5.3/alpha/installation/instkernel/netbsd.gz

(gunzip'd into the file system that sarasvati NFS mounted on / )

This worked well -- sysinst started automatically, and the new disk was
partitioned, sets were selected, and everything installed.

For the output of the 1st boot after installation, see the attached. The
boot really does stop right at "/etc/rc.conf is ".

I can hit the interrupt switch on the front of the DS10 and drop to the
SRM prompt, but i know very little about SRM, and am not sure how to get
anything useful out of it. if it type "bpt" to invoke the console
debugger i get:

>>>bpt

Brk 0 at 001AB498

For comparison, i've also include the output from functional "boot ewa"
(netboot into sysinst). It's after my signature, the second set of
output. The first set of output below is the boot from disk that hangs.

Anyone have any ideas?
