I just added some new drives to an my alpha.

I have them in an external enclosure that is serviced via a 50 pin
Centronics (the big one)

I have:
ST-34572W/WC Ultra-SCSI Wide (Barracuda 4XL) - 68pin converted down to 50
    Capacity:4.55 GB
    Speed:7200 rpm
    Seek time:9.4 ms

ST-136403LW Ultra2 SCSI Wide (Cheetah 36, LVD) - 80pin converted down to 50
    Capacity:36.4 GB
    Speed:10000 rpm
    Seek time:6.15 ms

ST-39173N Ultra-SCSI (Barracuda 9LP) - 50 pin native (well I have two, but
one won't spin up...grumble)
    Capacity:9.11 GB
    Speed:7200 rpm
    Seek time:7.4 ms

So who cares right?
Well in 'dmsg' I get:
probe(asc0:0:0): max sync rate 5.00MB/s
probe(asc0:0:0): unrecognized MESSAGE EXTENDED; sending REJECT
probe(asc0:0:0): max sync rate 20.83MB/s
sd0 at scsibus0 target 0 lun 0: <COMPAQ, ST34572W, 0892> SCSI2 0/direct
sd0: 4094 MB, 6300 cyl, 8 head, 166 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 8386000 sectors
probe(asc0:1:0): max sync rate 5.00MB/s
sd1 at scsibus0 target 1 lun 0: <SEAGATE, ST136403LC, 0002> SCSI2 0/direct
sd1: 34732 MB, 9772 cyl, 24 head, 303 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 71132960 sectors
probe(asc0:2:0): max sync rate 5.00MB/s
sd2 at scsibus0 target 2 lun 0: <SEAGATE, ST39173N, 5764> SCSI2 0/direct
sd2: drive offline
probe(asc0:3:0): max sync rate 5.00MB/s
sd3 at scsibus0 target 3 lun 0: <SEAGATE, ST39173N, 5764> SCSI2 0/direct
sd3: 8683 MB, 7501 cyl, 10 head, 237 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 17783240 sectors

Why does it say 'max sync rate 5.00MB/s' in on one line and 'max sync rate

I hate to think I wasting these speed deamon of drives at SCSI I speeds...
