! Ok, it's impossible to be sure of a HW diagnosis remotely, which

Yeah, I understand.

! probably accounts for the lack of response, but there are fairly
! decent odds that you've got a couple of heat death cases, because
! the chip that overheats is part of the RAM array driver, IIRC. What

Something with the "Vector 00000063" also? Would that be part of the RAM
array in some manner?

! was the usual ambient? Did you run them flat or vertically?
!
! You might want to look at the bottom of your system board .. that
! chip runs so hot that the legend ink or perhaps even the epoxy
! itself turns brown in the center and even _looks_ burnt to a casual
! inspection.

The Multias were on the stand, I had clipped the thermal resistor
off of the fan to aloow it to run at full speed. Ambient temp is about 72 F.
I looked at E215 on both. _Slight_ brown coloring...
Yep. Very good bet it's time to replace those chips.
Is there anyone in the CT (I'm in New Haven) area who can do this? I have
one or two other Multias that need solder work also. Cash/barter payment
negotiable.

Hopefully once I get these fixed, I can get serial console to work
on them...

Linc --- what problems have you had with 1.5.1? Was it the kinda stuff to
cause my serial console weirdness?

Mucho thanks for your thoughts and help...
