I had very good luck resurrecting a pile of Multia's by upgrading them to
firmware version 3.8, it cured "squiggly video disease" and helped some of
them cope better without clock batteries.

That version is known for having netbooting problems however, but a custom
netboot binary (see the web page mentioned in the multia FAQ) works well.
