The "ncr" driver for the 53c810 chipset is buggy. It's annoyingly
buggy, but not disasterously so; lots of people do use it
successfully. My AlphaStation 200 uses the ncr driver and doesn't trip
over any of the bugs.

There's a newer "siop" driver for the 53c810 and others in that family
which seems to be less buggy (it's certainly better-written), but
hasn't been exposed to the test of time, and is missing a few
performance-critical features.
