I had the same problem with my multia.  I upgraded the SRM to whatever the
latest and greatest was...  After that, it seemed to complain, but retry
all floppy errors.  I was able to boot, install, and it's still functional
AFAIK.  I've also heard horror stories from upgrading the SRM, so YMMV.
