Nope.  It's the elfness, more or less.  You deal with it by using
linking options.  Check out the NetBSD/alpha FAQ (found towards
the bottom of the NetBSD/alpha web page.  It'll go into more detail,
but the basic idea is that you build search paths into the binaries.
