port-alpha: floating point status?

Anyone know the status of the broken fpsetmask() on the alpha
(port-alpha/6805).  On 1.4_ALPHA, fpsetmask(0); still causes core dumps as
does pow(1000.3,1000.3) (should give Inf?).
