When i had a chance to play with an alphaserver 800, i found
front-panel drive LEDs a bit disturbing.  They were absolutely
unlabelled, and it was ... not obvious to me what they were for.  8-)


don't bother upgrading your SRM; there's probably no reason to.  in
general, unless you have a known good reason to upgrade, there isn't
often much 'hidden' reason to do so (other than to test with newer
firmware 8-).  I've found, in the past, that newer firmware often make
systems work less well, so unless what you've got seems broken, i
suggest "don't bother."
