I have a kernel that now renegotiates back up to wide and sync
and tagged mode based upon some SCSI inquiry data after
negotiating back down to ASYNC/NARROW when first configured.

If you're running a reasonably close to -current, can some
folks volunteer to boot a kernel to see if it works for you?
