well, i finally got the sound working on my multia with
NetBSD-current. The correct config line for wss is:

wss* at isa? port 0x530 irq 9 drq 3 drq2 1 #Windows Sound System
audio* at wss?

I did electrical continuity checks to verify the pins were connected
as above so the chip should do duplex sound with no problems. I haven't
checked this yet, not having sound software for the alpha, i have been
just doing cat /dev/audio > whatever, and cat whatever >/dev/audio

Another thing that is annoying is the 10 line scroll quanta that the
alpha console uses. This can be turned off by setting it to one instead
of 10 in wscons.c i think it is... I lost that on reinstalling the source
though. I have the multia set for 1280x1024 on startup but netbsd puts
it into 1024x900. Is this an option that is easy to set someplace? I haven't
found out yet exactly where this is occuring. On a related note... is there
a working xserver for the tga chipset on netbsd?
