What's the canonical way to check for the existence of a shared library
under NetBSD/alpha?  The other ports use 'ldconfig -r', but since there's
no ldconfig...

Along the same lines, is there another way to give ld.so_elf "hints"
besides LD_LIBRARY_PATH?  I've run into some weirdness with that...
