So, FWIW, i've no clue what's up with this bug.

The compiler sources were _not_ changed from the previous release, nor
have any 'interesting' (i.e. likely to cause random lossage) bits of
the kernel, as far as i'm aware.

What files are people seeing this on? Is it a random selection?

If a random selection, i'd bet on something in the C library.

Anyway, I won't be able to look into this for a while (I do not
currently have any NetBSD/alpha machines to work on (!!!)), so if
somebody would please 'gdb' it and figure out the problem i'd really
appreciate it.

a reasonable set of instructions on how to build the toolchain can be
found in src/distrib/alpha/build_dist or something like that.
