I'm having these exact problems w/ my multia, as well. This also happens
to be multia #3 (the first two also frotzed, and were returned for exhange).

Unfortunately, after I got the last replacement, I didn't have time to
unpack it, etc. Now, after I unpack it several months later, it's losing.
Sigh. Hopefully the place I purchased from will be reasonable about
a return.

I'm not so worried about "teeny and cute" ... my multia is in a rack,
its console hooked up to a terminal server, anyhow. I bought it because
I wanted to have an alpha at home to hack on.

I think I'm giving up on the multia concept, and am going to start
hunting for an eb64-type system.
