I'm having a strange problem trying to upgrade the firmware on a
very old AXPpci33s system. I have read the directions and downloaded the
disk images from gatekeeper in /pub/DEC/Alpha/firmware/interim/multia and
set the jumper for a failsafe boot (upgrading from the ARC console is not
an option here since the system is too old to have had the ARC console).
On power-on, the system reads the failsafe boot floppy, displays a one-line
SRM Console banner, then hangs. Any ideas? Have there been multiple
versions of PALcode for the AXPpci33? Could mine be too old to accomodate
the current firmware?
