I've now upgraded my firmware from BL5 V3.8-1 Jun 22 1995 18:10:45
to BL5 V3.8-3 Aug 10 1995 03:22:55 (which was what I downloaded
from ftp.digital.com today). Unfortunately, it hasn't helped; the
boot blows up in the exact same way.
