I'm having these sort of problems on my DEC 3000/400.  I've mentioned 
them to Chris before.  It makes linking/stripping test kernels for my 
AlphaServer difficult... :-\  My AlphaStation 600 had 128mb of RAM, but 
the DEC 3000 only has 32mb.  "hmmm..."
