the good news:
There's a new NetBSD/alpha source and binary snapshot, which
supports the PCI-based AlphaStation 200 and AlphaStation 400 family
machines, as well as the TC-based DEC 3000 family.

the bad news:
this is all of the docs; i'm leaving to catch a plane in a few mins.
The system IS NOT binary-comatible with previous
distributions, because of some changes necessary for POSIX compliance.
If you've got a NetBSD/Alpha system installed, you'll need to
reinstall.
OSF/1 binary compatiblity no longer works (even to the extent
that it used to) thanks to the same set of changes...

anyway:

lagavulin.pdl.cs.cmu.edu:/snapshot contains:

alphadist.950608.rz25-image.gz
an rz25 disk image. install on an rz25 (~400M) or larger
disk. See old install instructions. contains a generic
	kernel.

devo.950608.tar.gz
sources used to build the compiler/linker/etc.

netbsd.950608.gz*
a generic kernel, which will ask you for the root name, etc.
this is what's on the rz25 image.

netbsd_nfs.950608.gz*
a generic kernel, that tries to get root from NFS. put it
on an OSF/1 disk, set up a rarp and bootparam server on
another machine, etc., and boot with "b -fi 'netbsd'"

sys.950608.tar.gz
	my current kernel sources.

the subdir 'split' contains split versions of each of those.

the rest of the sources are straight out of the master NetBSD
source tree. as noted before, see the old install notes, for
hints, tips, and caveats, and note that AlphaStation 200s and
AlphaStation 400s, as well as ALL of the DEC 3000-family machines
(including the 300s) are now supported.

I didn't put these up on ftp.netbsd.org, because it's going to be down
for a few days starting saturday, and because they take up a _LOT_ of
space, all told.

I wanted to put up a big tarball, with all of the contents of
the rz25 image, but the gzip is still running, and i have to leave
NOW. 8-)

I'll update the install docs and the WWW page as soon as i get a
chance.
