Maybe it is, if not I could probably do it - spent the last few months 
hacking console/framebuffer drivers on other platforms. But this 
requires getting it to boot.

Last time I tried ( ages ago ) /some/ Ether3 boards were supported but 
not mine. Do these boards just share the name for some reason or is the 
hardware sufficiently similar to be supported by a single driver?
