I was getting frustrated about how slow firefox was, so I did some
digging and found a solution (assuming you don't need certain kinds of
[international] font support). Run firefox like this:

env MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1 firefox &

That's it.  The increase in rendering speed is profound.  Maybe we
should put a note in www/firefox[2] about this?
