I'd rather patch it with a hack to hide the issue, if nobody knows how to fix
it correctly. Setting this variable will hide all thread-related issues and
there might be more than this. Further, I suspect, sooner or later all users
are going to put the variable into their environment and nothing will be
reported nor fixed at all. Often setting this variable will fix nothing at all
and the software will just silently hang/fail later without any useful
diagnosis message.
