As is libfontenc, which in turn bitches about not finding xproto,
which is installed. So, for practical purposes, and a production
environment, mkfontscale is "not available".

Does the ttmkfdir2 package work for you? I.e. is this some local
setup / corrupted fonts peculiarity on my machines?

Over all, the pkgsrc-2006Q3 setup is a lot less reliable for us than
the 2006Q1 one it replaced. KDE 3.5.4 is dog slow, the dbus breakage
makes Evolution unusable under KDE (missing icons), gedit cores under
Gnome...

Ah well, never mind. I know, I have the source, and can fix things myself.
