We have entered the freeze period for new functionality for pkgsrc, in
preparation for the pkgsrc-2006Q2 branch.

We have a lot of new infrastructure in place, and a number of new packages
as well, and so we really need to shake out any of the remaining teething
troubles (I don't think there are many, but the bulk build results still
show a relatively high number of broken packages, and it would be great
to get on top of these). Also the new CHECK_FILES functionality is starting
to show a number of orphaned files which we previously ignored, so this
number is probably artificially inflated. Whatever, pkgsrc's infrastructure
is evolving, and is in a much better position than previously, and is also
much more able to support other operating systems' packaging tools.

We expect the freeze to last no more than 2 weeks.

Thanks for your understanding while we make the new pkgsrc branch,
Alistair
