Please don't regen a distinfo file - if the digests have changed, you need to investigate WHAT has changed, to ensure the integrity of the package.

If it's benign, and you'll probably have to work with upstram to educate them as to why two different versions with the same version number is an incredibly stupid idea, then use the DIST_SUBDIR workaround

If not benign, then back to the original digests, and start alerting people
