Re: CVS commit: pkgsrc/sysutils/intel-microcode-netbsd

24120 1 cpuctl NAMI "/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000306a9-4"
24120 1 cpuctl NAMI "/usr/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000306a9-4"
24120 1 cpuctl NAMI "/usr/pkg/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000306a9-4"

Running just "cpuctl ucode 0" with symlink:

  4989 1 cpuctl NAMI "/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000506e3-1"
  4989 1 cpuctl NAMI "/usr/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000506e3-1"
  4989 1 cpuctl NAMI "/usr/pkg/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000506e3-1"
4989 1 cpuctl RET ioctl -1 errno 17 File exists

Without:

 12938 1 cpuctl NAMI "/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000506e3-1"
 12938 1 cpuctl NAMI "/usr/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000506e3-1"
 12938 1 cpuctl NAMI "/usr/pkg/libdata/firmware/cpu_x86_intel1/000506e3-1"
 12938 1 cpuctl NAMI "/usr/pkg/libdata/cpu_x86_intel1/000506e3-1"
12938 1 cpuctl RET ioctl -1 errno 2 No such file or directory

Where is it getting "pkg" from?

The rc.d script iterates "cpuctl ucode 0" through "cpu ucode hw.ncpu-1" but the man page says that the option after "ucode" is the filename. Even so, it fails on hyperthreaded CPUs and apparently is only needed on one core per CPU package. I'll have to test that on a multi-socket system to be sure.

Hmmm...

John
