If this doesn't last for less than few days, it would be better to
unbreak the package.
To elaborate, I don't mind temporary breakage caused by routine
development process. It is knowningly updating frequently used package
to broken version that sounds strange to me.
(Same applies to X.org, but that's separate story, I have to rely on
others' words.)
