I see what your saying.  I think enabling the fallback is the better way
to go.

Or I could make enabling the fallback a PKG_OPTION?

IMO, introduce fallback option and disabled by default
(use pinentry-curses from security/pinentry for console usage).
But I'm not sure which one is preferred for users.
So I said, did you asked to the maintainer?
