I believe it's a policy of pkgsrc (link with rpath, no need runtime
settings),
and LD_LIBRARY_PATH should not be abused, it's a last resort.

Possibly - although I believe that pkgsrc exists to serve its users,
not to create rigid policies which are enforced to serve its
developers. Now personally, I don't have any axe to grind here, but
if there's a possibility that it would help new Interix users, I'm all
for it.

I think that LD_LIBRARY_PATH settings will mislead new users, just confused, no
help.
Additionally setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH in /etc/profile affect whole executable,
not only come from pkgsrc. It result in adverse effect.

Again, what will be happened without LD_LIBRARY_PATH settings?
If it happened in certain situation, it MUST be fixed.
