Hm, it appears that this pattern didn't fire in your case:

SUBST_SED.rm=   -e "s!^rm_try=\'/.*work/.tools/bin/rm -f!rm_try=\'/bin/rm -f!"

Obviously I did not cater for WRKDIR being re-pointed somewhere else.

I see that seb fixed it already -- thanks for that!
