The bug doesn't happen in all instances. If you take a look at the
output during the install phase, you will see that dot is segfaulting.

I don't see the crash on my laptop. So you broke the installation on
that. I do see it on my bulk build machine, which has a slightly older
userland. I'm not sure yet what happens, but this change is certainly
incorrect.
