Ewww, when these two things are combined, it will set free a lot of energy.
DESTDIR is from Joerg, and he dislikes AUTO_MKDIRS. ;)
The problem is that AUTO_DIRS doesn't allow one of the common ways of
creating a new PLIST in combination with DESTDIR: just replace the old
one with a empty file and run make print-PLIST.
This is one of the things where I think the automatic is bad.
