I don't think so, because the name of the file restricts the usage 
pretty much. It also doesn't allow you do override the "This variable is 
deprecated" warning message.

A really cool workaround would be a complete spell checker. It would 
know all the official variables (maybe together with their data type) 
and warn on all other variables. The problem here is that the package 
author may define his own variables, and I don't know how to distinguish 
them from simple typos. If you know, please tell me. :)
