What about making the OS neutral way part of MESSAGES.common and add
"better" ways to MESSAGES.${OPSYS}, e.g. some like:
You can use cron to update and check the database on a regular base.

On NetBSD/DragonFly you can alternatively hook this check into the daily
security check by doing...
