No, these changes aren't in any state to be given back to the tiff
maintainers.  This is pkgsrc-specific solution, given that I didn't
discuss this problem nor how we intend to solve it in pkgsrc with
them.  Likely, they will go in a completely different direction, in
which case, we'll modfiy the tiff package accordingly.
