Certianly. The most visible change is that the runtime configuration has to
be re-written. Exim's modus operandi, format of spool files, etc, are for
the most part unchanged. See for yourself here:

Development on exim 3 is finished, excluding bug fixes. Nothing in pkgsrc
depends on this package. Taking into consideration the lifetime of NetBSD
releases, I'm of the opinion that it's better that this particular update
happened before 1.6 is shipped.
