Thanks for doing this.  One other thought:  as the `gnome' package
currently depends on gnumeric, which it gets from ../../math/gnumeric,
it currently cannot be built on 1.5.x.  We need to either

  a.) make gnome not depend on gnumeric

or

  b.) add logic to the gnome Makefile to pick which version of gnumeric
      to build depending on the OS revision

Can you look into this, and pick one?
