It is a misfeature of cpp(1). If GCC was compiled without Fortran
support (like on NetBSD 5.0), cpp rejects *.F files. A workaround is
forcing C mode with by adding "-x c" to CPPFLAGS in
/usr/pkg/bin/f2c-f77. I am not sure yet if that breaks anything.
Shall we get an opinion from the f2c maintainer? *g*
