The devel/appstream upstream automatically detects wayland. The devel/appstream pkgsrc Makefile buildlinks in wayland conditioned only on whether the platform supports wayland. If appstream is built with wayland support, a reference to a wayland-client pkg-config file is made, which trips up the build of graphics/gimp if wayland is generally disabled with PKG_DEFAULT_OPTIONS.
