 Well, I think the issue actually arose because of a different
 dependency chain than the one you indicated. But I don't know offhand
 what it would be. In any case, there is already something in place in
 pkgsrc to potentially handle the chain you reported. In general, it's
 not realistic to avoid package conflicts entirely, except for using an
 entirely different approach like Flatpaks or something, which is not
 the pkgsrc way of doing things.
