 Sorry for the long delay here. This bug is pretty stale, with no further
 issues reported, so I'm going to close it.
 
 To answer your question, among other states, I'd tested with NetBSD
 8.99.50 with the state of pkgsrc that led up to 2019Q4, and didn't see
 this issue. I'm not sure what would have been different about your
 environment. Though, I did find this later commit, which could perhaps 
 be
 relevant (a reflection of your issue).
