The why is for someone else to answer, that actually makes no sense
to me, even on current

It exists there, but only as a symlink to /libxexec/ld_elf.so

If you don't have such a symlink, try making one, as a (possible)
quick remedy while someone who knows how works out how to build
binaries with a sane path to ld.so
