 This problem is identified as a libtool issue concerning
 the following statement in librarian/Makefile.am:
 
 librarian_la_LDFLAGS = -export-symbols-regex "^rrn_.*"
 
 commenting this line permits a build with librarian.so including a
 SONAME object for correct linking by util/* and/or external programs.
