work/dash-0.5.5.1/src/Makefile has the line
COMMON_CFLAGS = -Wall
which causes an error with HP's C compiler.

After truncating that macro, I encounter a further error due to the line
  $(COMPILE) -E -x c -o $@ $<
...but taking out "-x c" some just leads me into an interactive shell.
