error messages prior to crash:
/netbsd: umass0: at uhub1 port 2 (addr 5) disconnected
/netbsd: sd0(umass0:0:0:0): generic HBA error
/netbsd: sd0: cache synchronization failed
/netbsd: sd0: detached
ntfs-3g[1932]: Error reading $Mft record(s): Input/output error
ntfs-3g[1932]: ntfs_mft_record_read failed: Input/output error
ntfs-3g[1932]: ntfs_attr_pread: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error

messages are all prior to umount, crash happens with no logs, instant reset 
after pressing enter.
Umounting msdos-usbstick after timeouts works out fine.

There is a patch for FreeBSD for similar symptoms, but I'm unable to find it 
again to include it here.
